There are many with the perception that when you marry, you find your forever partner in crime to do things together, that you’d never be alone. No one prepares us for marrying someone who is different from us. I love the sun, sand and sea, and it would not be a stretch to say that if Justin can avoid them altogether, he would 100% do.
I am okay with doing things alone. I like eating alone, and I much prefer shopping and exercising alone. In such instances, doing things alone is much faster. A 2-hour gym sesh shortens to just an hour without the chit chat, and a shopping trip reduces from hours to just 20 minutes, dipping in and out with what you want and need.
Sometimes though, I wish I have people to do certain things with. Surfing for one is a solitary activity best done in company for safety reasons. Squash is great for doing solo, but I think it would be fun to play together with another person.
I think I have held things off a long time for the lack of company, but maybe it’s time to embrace doing things alone even more before my bones start giving. I am giving myself till the end of this year to figure out what I’m going to be doing, and it will be back to the grind once more in 2026.
